Angola is a country situated on the east coast of the African continent, facing the Atlantic Ocean, with Zambia to the east and Namibia and Congo to the south. The country has a population of 11 million people, and was for many years a portuguese colony, until it gained independence in 1975. With regard to tourism, most interest is concentrated in the coasts, and in cities such as Namibe and Lobito, as well as the capital Luanda. The country has recently escaped the grip of decades of civil war, and is slowly but surely building up confidence within tourists, who are beginning to make trips over to enjoy Angola's extraordinary beaches.
This reconstruction of Angola is also of great importance to the construction industry, with holiday homes, apartments and hotels being built at a fast rate, especially in the coastal areas such as the popular Mussulo Island.
Angola is a fantastic holiday destination, with stunning beaches, interesting museums and monuments, and plenty of activities to try out. See first hand how this african nation is lifting itself away from the dark days of civil war.
